A rare opportunity even in Thailand
Wednesday, 28 July 2010 17:48
On the 30th of July at the Thai Cultural Center, Bangkok, there will be a rare chance to see the top representatives of several styles of Muay Boran:
- Muay Korat
- Muay Lopburi
- Muay Tha Sao
- Muay Chaiya
The main purpose of this event is to help support the move to push Muay Thai to be recognised worldwide as a heritage art, and there will be a host of activities and events throughout the day.
Starting at 8am and finishing at around 4pm, this should be an event not to miss (the muay boran is being shown from 1:40pm to 3:40pm).
For more background read this article in the Nation newspaper website.
If you can't make it, don't worry, I'll be getting plenty of photos and footage...

Muay Thai Chaiya TV Episode 45: New video from Baan Chang Thai
Wednesday, 21 July 2010 08:30
If you haven't noticed (or haven't subscribed to the Baan Chang Thai youtube channel) Baan Chang Thai have just uploaded the latest of their weekly TV programs (which air ever Saturday on Thai TV).
Today's episode teaches how the Bat technique can be used against a Teeb kick, and adding an uppercut after to make a nice counter combination.
If you haven't already seen them already, there are loads of these short videos (about 44 before this one!) that you use to help you learn the style at home.
